Dr Faisal Baddar is a family medicine consultant at and medical director of Awazen Medical Center. Growing up in Canada, he obtained his medical degree from McGill University, moving on to complete his family medicine residency training at the University of Ottawa. He began his clinical career as a full-time hospitalist at Pembroke Regional Hospital, where he was the most responsible physician for patients being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, medical/surgical wards, acute mental health area, and rehabilitation ward. In addition, he frequently supervised the administration of chemotherapy and assisted his colleagues in the surgical theater. Since moving to the United Arab Emirates in 2013, his work has focused on outpatient medicine, primary care and prevention.  After having spent two years as the team leader for a prestigious bariatric center in Dubai, he has taken the opportunity to help expand primary care services in Abu Dhabi through his work at Awazen Medical Center, where he continues to pursue his interests in preventive medicine, sports medicine, the care of children and the elderly. In addition, he is one of the few family physicians in the UAE trained in psychotherapy, and is able to treat anxiety and depression, as well as related illnesses, with or without the help of medication.
